The following letter is written with sloppy handwriting.
Hello, Society of the Black Rose, the name's Kagan Whitesin. I'm an old captain of a mercenary group called named "Kagan's Company". I'm not writing this for myself however, but for one of my ex-members who can't properly read or write on her own. Her name's Athira Eldsfindur, a barbarian from them northern islands.
My men and I were exploring the icey north some time ago and when we headed ashore one day we were lucky enough to find her unconscious close to the frigid beach. I had her brought aboard our ship and we took care of her until she was strong enough to walk and move on her own, took some time but she got back on her feet! A strong lass that one, I'll tell ya! Beat every last one of my lads in arm-wrestling, guess they're called barbarians for a reason, eh? Anyway, she didn't know how to speak with us at first so we just used signs and pointed, she was a real help she was, did all her chores without complaint, a true soldier!
Anyway, we managed to teach her the basics of the language, she probably learned from overhearing us talk among ourselves too. So, then some time ago we headed off from them Ice lands and went back to Edmon, and she said she wanted to explore this here lands, understandable I guess if all you've seen your entire life is snow and ice! So, I agreed to help her find a group that could perhaps teach her more about this place, and after looking around and listening to folks in the tavern, your name came up, Ha, don't worry, I didn't hear it from no sleazy drunks or what-not!
Aye, so the question I ask is if you'd be willing to take her in. She's a strong lass, maybe not the brightest or most sociable either, but she got a good heart and works hard she does! If you want more information, send her a letter, addressed to Edmon, I'll be staying at the tavern so I can read any replies or so that she brings me from you fellows. Alright then, everything's been said and done. We'll just sit about and wait for you to get in touch!
Signed,
Kagan Whitesin, Captain of Kagan's Company.
An ink-splotch that's supposed to be Athira's signature.
